Din Torah Fees

Opening a case/Hazmana filing fee: $50.
Hearings: $150 per hour per Dayan per side.
Post hearing: in the event that there are many documents that need to be reviewed over the course of more than two hours, the Bet Din reserves the right to charge an additional $100 per hour per Dayan per side.
The Hazmana fee and three hours of hearing retainer are to be remitted prior to any Hazmana being sent for a small claims case. Post hearing fees will be determined by the Bet Din upon conclusion of the hearing.
Sometimes parties engage in excessive back and forth with the Bet Din. The Bet Din reserves the right to bill parties it deems responsible $100 per hour for excessive administrative work.
A post judgement review (appeal) to the Nasi: $150
Student discounts are available as deemed appropriate by the Director of the Bet Din.

Examples:

Reuven opens a case and sends a Hazmana to Shimon ($50).
Shimon doesn’t respond, so a second Hazmana is sent ($50).
Shimon agrees to arbitrate in Badatz Meorot HaMishpat.
It’s a small claims case so it will be heard by a single Dayan ($150/hr/side).
Each side prepays for three hours ($450) and signs the arbitration agreement electronically.
A hearing is scheduled for two weeks from that day.
The hearing takes 1.5 hours ($225/side).
The remainder ($225) is refunded the next day.
Total cost: Plaintiff: $325; Defendant $225.

Essentially the same as above, except for two things:

Large claims cases are heard by three Dayanim, so it’s $450/hr/side with a three hour retainer of $1350.
If there is significant prehearing back and forth, the Bet Din charges $100/hr for the extra administration time spent arranging the case.
